Addendum: Shape Shifting (Diceless)
Publisher: Rite Publishing

If you've played the old Amber Diceless RPG then most of what's here won't be a surprise. Shape Shifting gets broken into four levels; Lesser, Normal, Advanced, and Exalted.

Lesser nets you one alternate form and some limited partial shifts. Say a were-panther who can change just their eyes with a bit of work.

Normal gets you a broad set of abilities, covering most 'normal' forms.

Advanced you start getting better access to more fantastic forms and some related powers, such as making detachable limbs or aligning your shape with cosmic principles for fun and profit.

Exalted really opens up the potential size changes, although you'll need some work for the truly massive shifts, and grants additional esoteric capacities.

Overall it is well presented, we get some abilities explicitly stated rather than implied like in Amber, and it makes Shape Shifting a solid enough platform to serve as a character's focus. The overlap between Shape Shifting the Umbra Personal Transformations feels a bit strange; especially since we've already seen characters in other books using the Umbra to take on different forms but such is the price of expanding a game line.

The Broken-Winged Crane
Publisher: White Wolf

An important gap in the Infernal Arsenal is filled by a variety of unique and highly thematic hearthstones which add information on a number of titans.

The almost iconic Shintai Charms are greatly expanded, which makes playing a powerful Infernal a more varied task than most; operating on a very different scale even if their individual powers are less.

Heretical Charms make their debut, greatly expanding the concepts Infernals can now fill. Their individualistic transcendence path may be the most customizable and concept enabling portion of the Exalted mechanics to date.

While the product is short, the pure value per page is astounding. At less than five dollars its one of the best values I've seen.

Dreams of the First Age (with errata)

I picked up the original box-set when it first came out, and while many portions were amazingly good the Solar Charms were terrible and Sidereals got left outside in the cold.

Both of these problems have been addressed quite nicely, the Solar Charms provide a number of new tactics and high end capabilities, Sidereals get a Hero Style, and the character generation chapter's math has been cleaned up and made much smoother.

My one real complaint comes from the NPC write ups in Lords of Creation; the Wall of Charms still hurts my eyes and there doesn't seem to be any real organization to it. Still, once you're dealing with over a hundred charms I suppose it's always going to presentation problems.

The First Age fluff is still very well thought out, and will probably throw most groups for a loop at first. This is a world where you won centuries ago and the question facing various god-kings is 'now what?'.

Solid purchase, I'll get quite a bit of use out of it in my campaign.
