Deluxe Character Sheet

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Designed by TORG Revised & Expanded and Torg Eternity illustrator, Talon Dunning, this full-color, alternative character sheet takes the official sheet and reworks it with an eye towards easy play and details, as well as improved aesthetics.  The sheet contains two universal pages, plus a multitude of optional pages for listing spells, miracles, powers, vehicles, mounts, and more.  With this download you get:

  • The updated and revised Torg Eternity Deluxe Character Sheet (v.2).  A multi-page, full-color character record ready for printing, that includes a page specific to each cosm, lavishly decorated and providing quick references for Axioms and World Laws as well as cosm-specific details about your character.
  • The ability to import character and vehicle art directly into the PDF creating a highly personalized sheet.
  • A free sample sheet featuring an original Torg Eternity character.
  • A "printer-friendly' version of the sheet without backgrounds.
  • A FAQ that explains the details and nuances of the sheet's design and use.
  • A 2-page version of the sheet specifically made for NPCs!  -includes a Printer-Friendly version!

Note that this is considered a "living" document, meaning that it will be updated and changed to reflect new, official Torg Eternity material as it is released as well as general improvements.  This is the main reason why the PDF is not form-fillable.  The process of making a PDF form-fillable happens after the PDF is created, meaning any changes made to the sheet in Adobe InDesign will result in the creation of a new PDF, resulting in the loss of all previous changes, including fillable forms.  It is simply not practical to repeat the process of making 30 pages of material form-fillable every time a small change is made.

Also note that the preview files, above, are linking to an old version (v2b) of the sheet that has since been deleted and appears to have some odd display issues on the cover.  We have been unable to correct this problem, and assure you that the images and graphics appear normal on the final product.

We are always looking for ways to improve our character sheet designs!  Please feel free to provide feedback or make suggestions for improvements in the comments below.  We will consider all reasonable requests.

I just purchased this sheet and first off want to thank you for a great looking product. Is there any chance of getting a printer friendly version of the NPC sheet?

I'm glad you like it. The NPC sheet is only one page so I didn't think that a printer-friendly version (i.e., a version with the background removed) was really needed, however, I can include one with the next update. I only recently updated, though so I'm not sure when that will be.

Hi again. I've finally updated the sheet. The download now includes a printer-friendly version of the NPC sheet (which now includes cosm-specific pages). Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes indeed. In fact, it will be part of an extensive update of the entire sheet. While the core layout will remain, many improvements and additions have been made throughout. Version 2 should be available in the next month or so, once I get the time to finalize the changes and create new artwork for it.

Just purchased v1.e and I have to say that it looks great, especially the printer friendly version. But, unless I am doing something wrong the FAQ about adding an image doesn't work. I'm using Adove Reader DC, and neither left or right clicking on the blank picture area bring up a "browse" option.

Okay, I didn't implement the ability to import art into the printer-friendly version since I figured that if someone wasn't willing to print up the background, they probably wouldn't want to print a portrait, either. But, that does use significantly less ink, so I can add that functionality to it and update the file, no problem. As for the main file, as far as I can tell, it's working, both in Acrobat DC and Acrobat Reader DC. At least it's working on the local copy I used to upload to DriveThru's server. When you mouse over the portrait box, does your cursor turn into a pointing-hand icon?

If I've got it set to Select Tool I just get the crosshair cursor, with Hand Tool I get the same "open hand" that I get for the rest of the document.

I have no idea what to tell you, then, as I can't replicate the issue here. On my end, both selections give me the same result: a hand pointer indicating an interactive element. It works as advertised, and I've updated both PDFs with the working versions. It should be working on your end. I'm at a total loss. You have my apologies.

So I understand why _you_ don't want to make the pdf form fillable, but I was a bit disappointed to discover the security settings prevent _me_ from making it form fillable with Adobe Pro for my own use. Is there any chance this will change with later versions?

Also, if possible, it would be very kind of you to put space or other unprinted characters in the various blanks where users would be expected to write. This would allow the "edit text" function to make the sheet 'faux form fillable.'

Aside from the above, this is a fantastic product.

I didn't specifically set any security settings on the sheet, so having it locked out must be default. I'll look into turning that off. If I'm able to do so, I'd be interested in seeing what you can do with it.

So, you're saying that adding a text box to certain spaces and filling them with the space bar will allow you to add text? That's interesting... Is that something that I would do in Acrobat or InDesign? The big issue with form-fillable stuff is that every time I make a little change to the sheet in InDesign, I'd have to start completely over with the forms in Acrobat. If what you're suggesting is something that's done in Acrobat, it has the same issue.

Thanks for the feedback!

Hello again. I reviewed the security settings on the PDF, and as far as I can tell, users should be able to modify the sheet as they like using Adobe Acrobat Pro (I don't know if Reader has that capability or not), including the addition of text, which is what you'd need to do to "fill out" the sheet without making it truly form-fillable. I'll admit that I'm no expert on PDF security settings, but Acrobat tells me that the PDF has no security in place and lists editing as "Allowed," so it should be working. As such, it didn't seem like it was necessary to add empty text-boxes since that's part of the "Add Text" ability on the user-end.

Hello again! Another user informed me that the security was still in place on the main character sheet PDF meaning that they couldn't alter or add text as I previously stated you should be able to do. I reviewed the security settings again, and I THINK I've got it figured out this time. I have re-uploaded version 1d, so if you re-download it from your Library and allow it to overwrite your original 1d file, you SHOULD be able to alter or add text now (as well as import an image into the portrait and holy symbol boxes, which I had forgotten to add with the last update). Please let me know if my changes didn't work and I'll give it another go. Thanks!

Hello, great job. Would it be possible to get a new page for those pesky Living Landers that happen to have a mount AND an animal companion or multiple mounts ? That page is half-useless for a Living Lands character :)
Keep up the great job, though, my players are really happy with those sheets. AND I am real happy to have it under my eyes to see those skills to keep them in mind when asking for rolls :)

Let me make sure I'm following you here... You're suggesting that I give mounts/animal companions their own page, separate from vehicles, so that there can be two separate listings for animals? I can see the merits of that. The issue there is that it leaves the vehicle page half-empty with nothing to fill it with. I suppose I could add a box to import a picture of a vehicle, but that's a lot of real-estate to dedicate to something that most people aren't going to use or care about. I suppose I could also just double the vehicle section in case someone happens to have two vehicles. Of course, this would also increases the already bloated page count. Still, it's not a terrible idea in the wake of some of the more recent Living Land options. I'll give it some consideration and see what I can do. Thanks for the suggestion.

I love your character sheets! The Spell/Miracle/Psy pages alone make it worth the purchase.

But if I may humbly submit a request. Would it be possible to get the sheets made fillable? Dont need to try and add in formula logic so it auto calculates skill totals and such but just they ability to type in values. Some of us have horrible hand writing and being able to type in the values would make the sheets so much cleaner and nicer.

Thanks for liking the sheet! Making a document this complicated form-fillable is difficult, mind-numbingly boring work, and as I explain in the basic description above, since this is a "living" document that occasionally gets updated as I make improvements to the design, it's also extremely impractical. Form-filling happens after the PDF is created, so every change made, no matter how small, would result in having to start the form process over again from scratch. At least that's my experience with it.

This is amazing! There is so much space for cosm-specific background information, world laws, glory record, you name it! And I particularly like the idea of a quick-reference page for spells, miracles and powers and a detailed one for their descriptions.

I have a suggestion and a quick note:
- How about grouping combat skills and defenses? TBH, I don't quite understand why USNA put combat defenses in a separate section, but chose to put attacking stats with the other skills...
- On p. 14, it should read "C:/Le cosm de LA réalité cyber-religieuSE" (changes in capital letters). "Realité" is a feminine word.

Thank you for you work!

Thanks for the comments! Are you suggesting I get rid of the Defenses section and just rely on the totals in the skills section? I'm pretty sure that USNA chose to isolate out the defensive stats as a matter of both convenience and necessity. Since the GM is constantly rolling against those skills, it's helpful to have them in one place, especially since there are items and game effects that can modify those stats outside of their skill adds, both temporarily and permanently. For that reason, it's necessary to have your defenses separate from the skills they are derived from. A power or item that gives a boost to a defense doesn't also add to your ability to hit with the parent combat skill.

Pro Tip: Put your character sheets in plastic sleeves and write on them with wet-erase markers (don't use dry-erase as it comes off too easily). That way, when your party psychic casts Awareness and raises your defenses (but not their parent skills) by +1 or more, you can simply write the new totals on top...See more

I wasn't suggesting to get rid of the Defenses section, quite the contrary. As you said, they're really useful. But so are attacking skills. For that reason, I would have put all the combat skills in the same section, in big circles like the Defenses, to use as a quick reference during combat, instead of having to look for them in the table on the left hand side of the page. Some of my players find this very confusing.
Why would you want to highlight Defenses and not attacking skills?
But as you've mentioned, some effects get applied to Defenses only, and not to the parent skills, so it seems that for some reason, USNA considers them as a different thing. So maybe combat skills are just combat skills and then there are defense skills and Defenses. I get it for unarmed combat and unarmed defense, but dodge and... dodge? Whatever.

Nice tip! I hadn't thought about plastic sleeves. We use tokens for buffs/debuffs.

Glad I could contribute. If you need any help for future titles...See more

Yeah, it's a bit of an odd duck. I haven't had any issues myself just going to the skill list for attacks, but now that I understand what you're saying, it's an interesting idea. The question is, is there anything that directly modifies individual attacks that doesn't also alter the combat skill in the same way that certain effects boost defenses? I'm not sure that there is. If not, having the attacks separated out could be a bit redundant, which is bad when you don't have a lot of real estate on the page to play with.

Here's a thought: in my D&D/Pathfinder sheets (I design a LOT of sheets), I have a column for modified attack bonuses listed for each individual weapon. This is because in those games, you can gain bonuses to specific weapons or weapon types that goes beyond just your base attack bonus. While that doesn't appear to be strictly true with TorgE, having the appropriate skill bonus listed next to each weapon could be convenient during play... It'd be one less place to look on...See more

I have updated the sheet with your correction and with a change inspired by your suggestion. It may not be exactly what you were going for, but I think it will work in much the same manner, or at the very least ,are it easier to handle attacks during game play. Thanks so much for your feedback. I hope you continue to enjoy the sheet.

Thanks! We'll test it out. After reading your updated FAQ, I realized my initial wording may have seemed a bit abrupt. When pointing out my player's confusion about the attack skills, I wasn't referring to your design of the sheet, but to the original one.
Anyway, thanks again. It's actually better this way, since you always generate an attack total with a weapon of some kind. And "unarmed" being already in the Weapons section, everything is where it should be! It'll definitely speed up our attacks rolls.

When you purchase the sheet, you gain access to four files: the main character sheet with the full color backgrounds, the "print-friendly" version (the same sheet with the backgrounds removed), a sample character showing what the sheet looks like fully filled out, and a FAQ that covers the sheet and how to use it. The first two pages are the only pages universal to every character. All other pages are optional.

This is a stunning piece of work! The website won't let me write a review for some reason (maybe our firewall at work?) but I have rated it 5 stars.

Only one issue for me; any chance of a printer friendly version? At least of the first two pages? I only have a B&W laser printer and those borders are going to absolutely munch my cartridge something awful.

Thanks for the positive feedback! While a version sans-backgrounds breaks my artist's heart, I certainly see the need for a more economical, print-friendly version (something I've done for other Fantastic Gallery products in the past). As such, I have created a version of the PDF with the front cover and backgrounds removed and added it to the download files. It's still in color (I can't really change that without significant effort), but if your printer is limited to b/w, then the color in the PDF shouldn't matter anyway. To get the new version, simply go your My Library page and re-download your purchase. The new file should appear as a downloadable link. Thanks for purchasing the Deluxe Character Sheet! I hope you enjoy it!

The full-size preview isn't loading for me. Also, why not just say why you didn't make it form-fillable rather than leave that for the people who decide to buy it? (I didn't see a FAQ in the quick preview.) If this were form-fillable, I'd have bought it on the spot.

The preview doesn't load for me, either. In fact, almost no previews load for me anywhere on the site and haven't for a long time. I have no idea why or what to do about it. I didn't say why it's not form-fillable in the description because the explanation is kind of long. There's two reasons. First off, it's a difficult, time-consuming process that is, quite frankly, mind-numbingly boring. Acrobat's auto-fill does a lot of the work, but it also does a lot of it incorrectly as it has trouble identifying what's supposed to be fillable and what isn't on a design this detailed. So basically I have to go through and correct everything it gets wrong and then fill in everything it misses, which is a LOT, by hand, box by box, line by line. But the worst of it is that the entire process is done in Acrobat AFTER the PDF is created. I make these sheets in Adobe InDesign. Any changes I make to the master files results in the creation of a brand new PDF, one that REPLACES the old one... So any changes I make to...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
