First NPC collection I've seen that successfully delivers NPC's that are interesting/decent in combat, memorable and useful as characters, and able to dropped into a campaign with their prewritten hooks without having to do a ton of prep changes

A good variety of characters, who could fit in many types of campaigns. The illustrations are good, and the characters range from "pretty normal", which is mostly what I want, to "would fit someone else's campaign better" but might be interesting offbeat in mine".

My favorites are Ace the Archer, who as they describe could be an assassin, love interest, or rival. Huey the Minotaur, whow for some reason tends to get kicked out of parties he joins. Idrina the pub owner with a secret. Marius the ronin knight. And Shifty the Kobold Pirate.

As a DM w/ a custom world/campaign and a busy schedule, well made tools like this are very helpful. Each character contains significant background information and will be fairly easy to cut-and-paste into VTT's such as Fantasy Grounds (my preference) or roll20. I get to focus on plot and worldbuilding while this product contributes to making my world richer. I like this tool.

This is perfect. I need some NPCs for a one-shot and just dropped these in.

I particularly loved that each character had artwork. In roll20, I was able to drop these in as new "maps" and when players went to interact with the NPC, their screen is an actual picture of this person. Thanks to the author for including the original art, it makes it so much easier for VTT or table-top games.

I will happily buy more of these.

This is an absolutely awesome product and a great NPC resource, especially for DM's on a time/prep budget. Nyx and Corde were used during a random encounter in my current campaign and have since become essential to our story over the past six months. We've had some extremely memorable moments with them and that wouldn't have happened without Dan Coleman's creativity. My gaming group thanks you!

Like all the material I bought from Dan Coleman, this is very useable and high-quality content. Probably my favorite of his releases so far (I own them all) as I am always looking to add NPCs to an existing adventure I'm running (Princes of the Apocalypse). It's presented with just enough flavor text and stats for each NPC to use as is, or get inspired to fledge them out even more. In my opinion it sets itself apart from many other products on DriveThru by having 1 full page for each NPC, a clear layout and the quality of what's written. I also get regular updates in my mail (can be turned off if you like) with new versions of the material to be downloaded. The NPC Codex now includes 7 new NPCs I didn't have before, for no additional cost! Highly recommended.

Very well done like all of Dan Coleman's products. Very easy to use. Has all the information at your fingertips to throw an NPC in your campaign with a moments notice. Hopefully he does more of these.
