Dungeon World GM Screen (PDF ONLY)
by Jesse S. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/11/2015 08:27:42

Very satisfied with this product. Combined it with the Savage World's custom GM screen by printing it in Landscape on Cardstock. There was a lot of panels to choose from, and I think I found a very useful combination for my purposes.

The art is simple, but evocative, and the information is easy to understand and read. Definitely satisfied.

Dungeon World GM Screen

This is JUST what the doctor ordered. The print quality is excellent and I think the artwork evokes and inspires the game. I really like David's artwork on this. I like how he uses shadow and how he's kept the artwork simple, but interesting. I think this will be very useful for both GMs and players to have Basic Moves (with reference page #s), Equipment Tags, Special Moves and more just a simple glance up from the table. Well worth the money. Nothing is EVER perfect, so 4/5 stars, but I have yet to see a better Dungeon World screen.

The Druid - A Dungeon World Playbook
by Brandon P. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/19/2015 15:29:41

Fantastic.

I'll be honest--I've read a lot of playbooks. Dozens of them, at this point. But Awful Good Games continues to impress me time after time.

What makes this new version of The Druid special, you ask? The first thing is the "Skin-Walker" move, which both streamlines and defines in much more concrete terms the kind of specific advantages an animal form can provide you. Gone are the days of wondering why the muscled hide of your new bear body provides no armor, or why your strength and razor-sharp claws add no extra damage.

And while it's true that the finer points of the move (can I have a breath weapon as a dragon, or turn people to stone as a cockatrice?) will still require GM input similar to the old Shapeshifting move, the lack of a spendable hold mechanic (and constant back and forth transformations) means that you will only have to make that decision ONCE for each form.

Aside from that major change, I very much enjoy the variety of abilities that the rest of the class moves offer. I don't want to go into too many specifics here (suffice it to say that you should buy the product and see for yourself), but I like the combination of healing, utility and direct damage magic, as well as the potential for animal companions and communing with nature spirits.

As it stands, this class feels like a well-executed blend between the DW Druid, the DW Ranger and the Grim World Shaman classes, but somehow avoids the issues I have with each of those classes on their own.

Quality product. Glad to own it, and I hope I can convince a player to try it.

The Druid - A Dungeon World Playbook
by Andrea P. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/18/2015 10:34:23

A very good playbook. I find this version of the druid more playable than the original one in the Dungeon World core book. I like the shapechanging move (with the various advanced moves, and the optiona ones you'll find in the Director's Cut part), that give more guidance compared to the eccessive (imho) full narrative original version. Also, there is some maigc, and moves for foraging, for getting help from animals etc. Just a note about the Races: there are no races described, but you have "Origins": so by default isn't important if you are a human, an elf, an halfling or whatever, it's more important how you lived your life, and how you got the "druid powers". Finally, as you can expect from a David work, you'll find not only the "standard" playbook, but a whole mini-book that gives more descriptions, more themed weapons, some magical equip, and a ton of insight on what was the class creation process. A great playbook + booklet, and a really fair price. I really loved the possibiilty to build a druid without the shapechanging ability, you can read more in the specific part of the booklet.

Disclaimer: I helped David with suggestions and some proofreading, so I received a free copy of the final product from him. I'd like to thanks him, but my point of view is neutral and very critic, as I proved during past collaborations and reviews.

The Swashbuckler - A Dungeon World Playbook
by JOHN A. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/04/2015 22:12:37

Another great Awful Good Games class. Seriously, their stuff is good enough that I'm almost tempted to get the classes I have no interest in (The monster based ones) because I'm so sure they'll be great classes despite me not being into monster PCs. AGG is setting a high standard for playbooks. Rock solid design and high production values from start to finish.

The swashbuckler is interesting in the fact it isn't just a rapier wielder. They can fight with bigger swords and have quarterstaffs as part of their fighting style too. Surprise! A class I was definitely wanting to add to my game and it's a good version that has plenty of variety along with its own feel.

The Pirate - A Dungeon World Playbook
by JOHN A. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/04/2015 21:52:44

An excellent product. Awful Good Games give a lot of value for the buck. You got the 2 print book versions, one with shaded background and one without. The printbook reads just like it was in the DW book. You get an intro, all the character stuff, then you get a few extra moves that didn't quite make the cut onto the character sheet, some new equipment, magic items, and discussion of the moves and design decisions at the end. (Tiny typo, the only one I've noticed. Very last page. Why intlocks and Crossbows.)

The Pirate Sheet is my favorite sheet (The more basic one). The little bits of nautical design on it are awesome.

The class is pretty solid on land or on sea, though obviously with a bent towards the water.

The Bard - A Dungeon World Playbook
by JOHN A. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/04/2015 20:18:53

Okay. I totally wanted to hate this, as the author talked smack about the traditional bard, who I actually like and is my go to character build in Pathfinder. However, this is a very nice class. I actually like it better than the one in the book, though I don't have any problem with them co-existing. AGG's bard is more actiony in combat, more social out of it, and does their healing in downtime. The production values are great as typical for Awful Good Games playbooks, and a great value with all you get.

The Oni - A Dungeon World Playbook
by Andrea P. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/02/2015 21:36:25

In short: another good additional playbook for Dungeon World. The class is nice, full of useful moves that encompass all the interesting features of this kind of oriental demon. You are a force of nature, you can turn invisible, be a hulking giant, change form, etc. In the additional "printbook" (27 pages, while almost a third of those pages contain the playbook in a book format) you'll find additional informations about the Oni, a "director's cut" with alternative take of some move, other moves removed from the final playbook etc. Minor personal complains about the Oni are: almost all the moves are fairly mechanical, and very fighting / action related, and the new Character's sheet is quite different from the standard DW ones. Better organized? Maybe, still I don't like it so much. As additional cool gift (a standard for David Guyll's playbooks), you'll find a nice selection of themed weapons, armors, curious items and magical items, very useful to spice the things up in your oriental flavored campaign. I LOVED the Bundle of Scrolls object, very DW style. I hope to see other oriental themed playbook in the future.

DISCLAIMER: As happened before, I helped David to refine the playbook while in the Alpha phase. I brought numerous feedback, and I was gifted with a free download of this final version.

Creator Reply:
Andrea, I\'m interested in hearing specifically what you (or anyone, really) don\'t like about the new character sheet layout! If it\'ll make more people happy, I can always just add in the classic sheet to the oni and/or include both styles in the future.

Out of all the bards ive seen for Dungeon World, this one is my favorite. I like the fact that this bard doesn't simply just starts playing an instrument in battle, it is a capable combatant and its magical moves work well inside and outside of combat.

David and Melissa consistently put in a lot of hard work when coming up with their products and there is a lot of good stuff in this one as well as the other Treasure books in the series. Especially helpful is the section on making items.
