Fort Ravenswall

Built against a huge wall of ice, Fort Ravenswall is a bleak and lonely castle. No one knows who built the wall of ice, but everyone knows that it protects the heavily populated Southlands from innumerable dangers. Garrisoned by a group of warriors, people say as long as Fort Ravenswall stands, the people are safe.

A printable rpg battlemap compatible with any RPG/Dungeon-Crawl or skirmish game. Use as a standalone gameboard, or combine with any same-scale tileset. The map is 50x50, equivalent to 25 of our standard 10x10 tiles.

Contents: A large castle built alongside a huge wall of ice. The castle has a central muddy courtyard, with various towers and buildings leading off (including barracks, great hall, library, kitchen, smith, garrison commanders quarters, scholar's quarters and messenger raven cages). A rickety wooden lift grants access to the top of the wall. A double gated corridor punches through the ice, leading to a bleak and wintery forest in the north.

Download includes:
250dpi A4 pdf map spread across 50 pages for easy printing.
250dpi full jpeg versions for VTT or poster printing

Note: Whilst the download looks large, it consists of many separate files - just download the versions you need.

A note on VTT use - we have deliberately kept the quality of the file high, and you may need to resize the jpeg for use in your VTT software. Keeping the file size and resolution high gives you the flexibility to use the map how you want - crop out a particular section or use the entire map, the choice is yours.

In reference to the review by Carl C., I find that there are thousands upon thousands of things on these sites that I have no intention of using, however, when I look at them, the inspirations really start flowing.
I currently am running primarily "modern" day type games and am annoyed by the vast majority of medieval fantasy oriented stuff, but when I see a map like this, I simply must come up with a story involving it.

Heroic Maps is by far the finest example of maps made today. I just wish I could get more pulp flavored stuff! ;)

Okay for $1 you can't beat owning "the wall" from Game of Thrones. Can't do better than that. It's a massive 50x50 high res file that I usually divided in 25 10x10 pieces for gaming purposes. No one makes better maps than HeroicMaps

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
