Wen: A GM Reference for Dungeon World, Volume 2: Cities

ADD TO WISHLIST >
Suggested Price $2.99

This is volume 2 of my series of thematic guides for Dungeon World. The purpose of these guides is to provide creatures and locations to use in your adventures or to help inspire you to create your own.

This volume is focused on urban environments and includes: 15 locations, 15 creatures, 23 items, a compendium class and a handful of custom moves.

It was written with Dungeon World in mind, but could be adapted for a variety of other games.

You can also check out volume 1 of the series entitled Greenwood, which focuses on forested environments.

Blah. NO MAPS, Nothing on City Economic, No price listings or commodities pricing. Looks more like they didn't have enough materiel to do a Monster manual and decided to combine what little they had with other "we don't have enough for" items (like a Treasures guide)

An Addendum re-marketed as a full fledged product

Very Disappointing

Thanks for taking the time to review and comment. This is the first Dungeon World content I've produced so I appreciate the feedback.

If by "City Economic" you mean steading tags, I think that's a good idea and something I can definitely add. I just hadn't thought about it to be honest.

I'm not sure what you're looking for as far as maps are concerned. This guide isn't meant to represent a cohesive, thematic universe, so there wouldn't be a world map to include. If you mean blank maps, those aren't something I'm familiar creating outside of what I sketch out for my group and I'm not sure how useful they would be.

The total content of the guide amounts to over 50 ideas between creatures, items and locations, plus the compendium class, which feels like a good amount of content to me. I've purchased similar guides from other publishers with less and have been very pleased with them, but it seems like you don't feel it's enough material, and that's okay. I understand...See more

By the specific complaints, I'm thinking there is some confusion about the nature of Dungeon World. Draw Maps leave blanks, play to find out what happens, Some items can't be bought...I think you did a fantastic job with Wen. Your design is also very well done. I hope my zine will eventually look as good.

Thanks for the positive comment. Feel free to reach out to me if you want any help with the content you're working on https://plus.google.com/u/0/102664254666078826277

The Dungeon World Tavern on G+ is extremely helpful in that regard as well. I've been working on new content lately and hope to finish some things up in the coming months. Good luck with your zine.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
