Perfugia-Class Space Station

ADD TO WISHLIST >

Space stations are vast constructs floating in space and a focal point that attracts all kinds of travelers. Referees can use these havens in cold space as the starting point for sending players off into adventure, or use them as adventure settings. And players always enjoy having their characters hang out at the bar after a nerve-wracking adventure, where they can spend their hard-earned credits and meet new people, contacts, and rivals.

It can be a daunting undertaking to design a space station in such detail that makes it believable and memorable. Referees with only little time to spare can resort to this massive tome (2,500+ pages) of floor plans of a space station that consists of one large umbrella-like section with five column-like habitat sections protruding from its flat underside.

The umbrella is divided into 5 levels that include the arrival and departure terminal, customs, docking and repair hangars, various machine halls, and warehouses.

The habitat sections are comprised of stacked disk-shaped modules, of which each fulfills a specific purpose. Modules include administration, apartments, cafeteria, command center, mainframe computer, conference rooms, general services, life support, security, shops, sick bay, and workshops.

Inside this supplement, you will find:

  • Detailed description  of a medium-sized space station that can be expanded due to its modular construction
  • Floor plans, both split into various segments as well as assembled maps (1 inch is scaled to represent 1.5 meters/5 feet)
  • Tables for making your space stations unique and memorable
  • A list of space station personnel travelers will encounter on their visit

Many maps include a feature similar to the Fog of War known from strategy games on the computer, and lets you unveil these maps piece by piece as the characters proceed. All of this is done by using the layers option of PDFs, so you don’t need any VT software.

Included are png files of all maps for use with VTT.

Although this product contains information relevant to Mongoose Traveller, it can be used in all sci-fi settings.

Are these images gridded, ungridded or both?

Both. The grid can be switched on/off by using the layer option of the pdf reader software.

How about the .pngs? I'm going to be using it for a VTT, and while I can capture images from a PDF its kind of a pain with a large number like this.

Is there a way to get an external image of the station? It's hard to get a feel for what the station looks like from all the parts.

There is an external image in the file with the description of the space station.

Any chance of getting it with separate PDF with text and then zips of the levels as some sort of graphic (SVG, PNG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, etc)?

I'd like to actually have graphics that could be used on a VTT (even above and beyond what you said about the layered PDFs) and if I want to crank up GIMP or Inkscape, I could do some personal customisations and build my own levels with not a lot of fuss.

Is that possible?

That would take some time converting all PDFs into images - unless I convert only the assembled images into PNG or JPEG. Let me check into that.

Good morning. I have uploaded a zip file with png images. The umbrella images have a resolution of 72 dpi, all others 150 dpi. I have tried them with my favorite VTT - and it works :-)

Meant to thank you but I've been off DTRPG due to rough patch on the home front.

Thank you for doing that!

This is a pain having to try and download 114 files! Since the download functions here are fair at best. If I'd have known there where that many I might not have bought this.

I'm sorry that the "Select Next 10" still isn't working. However, I hope that you will enjoy taking a stroll through the space station nonetheless.

Me again. I've just tried downloading all files at once by checking the box left of the title. The first 1o files get downloaded, and then the download window (I use Firefox) sort of freezes and shows no progress whatsoever.

What you can do is to search for the title in your library (filter line is at the top of the page), select "Select Next 10 Files" and download the selected files. Then select the next ten files, download, and so on. It is a bit complicated, but I tried it and had the files (more than 500 MB) downloaded within just a few minutes.

I was notified by the proofreader that he experienced some problems when it came to downloading the files. The "Select Next 10" along with "Download Selected" was broken, which can make downloading the 114 files (yes, there are that many files) tedious. I have contacted DriveThruRPG technical support about this and hope that the matter will be resolved soon.

I wonder how that might be addressed. Their customer service representative told me that they have yet to fix the glitch that does just that if your browser is set to require a secure connection. Since they've been hacked once already, forcing me to cancel my credit card, I'd call that a pretty ballsy move. I'm considering purchasing this product, but that sounds like a deal-breaker. My other concern, and maybe you can help with this, is that I use 15mm figures for Traveller and Star Trek. Is there a quick and easy way to crank your 25mm plans down to 15mm? FYI I use 25mm for Fading Suns, Rogue Trader, etc, so selling a separate 15mm version wouldn't really work for me. Thanks.

The only way I can think of to 'convert' the plans down to 15 mm is to change the printer settings. Setting the scaling factor to 60% should do the trick.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
